How to appeal a terminated YouTube channel

If you ended up getting your channel suspended then I got to say that that’s tough. Well, depending on what you were doing.

For anybody that doesn’t know how a channel can get suspended, you’ll find out here. Then there are things that you can do to try to get your channel reinstated.

I’ll go over that afterwards and have an alternative that you might be able to do.

Ways your channel gets suspended

Too many community strikes

Ways that you can end up getting your channel suspended is through copyright strikes. If you get three copyright strikes within 90 days, then your channel will get suspended.

That could be you taking someone else’s content and then they hit you with a copyright strike.

Misinformation, clickbait, sensitive or violent content, and other things like that.

Things that can cause immediate termination

Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) or content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits children. This is strictly prohibited and results in immediate and permanent termination, often with reporting to legal authorities.

Content promoting illegal acts or hate speech with serious real-world harm. This includes inciting violence, promoting terrorism, or severely targeting individuals or groups in a hateful and malicious way.

Pornography and explicit sexual content. Especially if it features non-consensual acts or minors.

Spam and deceptive practices (in severe cases). While usually leading to strikes, extreme cases of manipulation, scams, or harmful misinformation could result in immediate suspension.

What happens when your channel is suspended?

Once your channel is suspended, your account will be suspended as well. So even if you get a brand channel suspended that’s going to suspend your personal account as well.

You get suspended on YouTube, YouTube Studio and YouTube TV.

Unfortunately, for some of you you won’t even get an email. Usually YouTube will give you an email and let you know why they suspended your channel.

They don’t say specifically what it is. They just give you a general idea of what you might have done so you’ll have to do some digging to make sure you know exactly what it is.

Hopefully you you already do know what it is. Even more than that maybe it’s might have just been an error on YouTube’s part.

How to appeal a suspended channel

Either way, you still have the option to appeal it. It’ll essentially have you put in your channel ID email address and it will let you give a description on why you think the suspension was an error on YouTube’s behalf so you’ll want to put in as much as you possibly can.

If it was an actual violation, then you you just going to have to pretty much fall on your sword. ” I understand exactly why my my channel is suspended. I’ll never do again.” Say something like that.

You’ll get a human that will actually take a look at this so this might be the best chance to get. Take time and think about what you want to say in this appeal.

It could take a couple of days or it could take a couple of hours for you get to you receive an answer on your appeal.

Your first appeal was rejected…

If your appeal was accepted and they reinstate you you know they reinstate you then great. if not then you still got a few options but not too many.

I’ve heard situations where they give you like 14 days to get a second appeal, and then I’ve also heard that you only get one shot at an appeal like this.

You can still try an attempt for an appeal by going on places like Reddit. you can also try to get in contact with team YouTube on Twitter and you can try to send a message on creator support.

Let them know let somebody know you feel like you have gotten your channel suspended in an error and see if somebody will actually pay attention to you in order for you to get a second chance to be looked at.

There’s always a possibility these options could work for you. I’ve seen some people actually say that they’ve had some success on it but the odds of that actually happening especially with a smaller channel aren’t great.

If you tried those and it didn’t work, the only thing you really got to do is just start over from scratch.

My Brand channel is still on YouTube but my account is suspended

Let’s say for example you have multiple brand channels on that one account let’s say I have my primary account and then I have YT Torials as a brand account and then I have DIY work as another brand account.

DIY work gets suspended and my primary account gets suspended but if I was to search YT Torials, it still pops up.

I don’t have access to get to YT Torials because I can’t sign in to my account. What options do you have to get to that brand channel that is yours?

You would have to be able to switch the brand channel to another account.

You wouldn’t be able to do that on YouTube. It would need to be completed on Google. I’ve already made a video on how you can switch brand accounts through Google.

check out that video here. It is essentially the the only way you can get anything that was residing on your old account that got suspended.

Is there anything else you can do?

If none of the options above helped you, is there anything else that can be done? The last option you have is to start over from scratch on YouTube.

So what you’ll have to do is make a new Google account and then make a new Youtube channel with that account.

Know that even if you do this, YouTube could immediately terminate your new channel as well. Circumventing terminations: Creating new channels to bypass a previous termination.

Hopefully this helped you out.
