How to grow your YouTube channel for 2025

YouTube’s #1 goal is to keep people on YouTube. You have to be the reason why viewers want to stay on YouTube and that can be hard for a channel.

Here are ways to help your channel find interested viewers and KEEP their interests in you.

1. Improve your titles and descriptions

According to YouTube, short descriptions can hurt your video’s ability to rank in search. You’ll want to put some thought in your descriptions because

YouTube does use the keywords in your titles and descriptions to help rank your videos.

You want to write titles that aren’t clickbait but do invoke the same emotions. Fear of missing out, shock, curiosity. Then have your video deliver on what you promoted in the title.

Using AI tools like Gemini can help give you a multitude of title variations, providing a starting point when you’re struggling for ideas.

2: Create incredible thumbnails

Usually, viewers will first see your thumbnail and title. This info gives them a glimpse of what your video is about and helps them decide if they want to watch it.

90% of the best-performing videos have custom thumbnails. So you want something that will help pull an emotion of your potential viewer.

Make sure your thumbnails and titles are working well together, not against each other.

Thumbnails show up differently across devices, so make sure your thumbnail image is as large as possible.

3: Join social media groups.

While you can always post on your Facebook page, TikTok feeds etc., you’re much better off joining groups that are for your niche.

This way you can target people that are interested in what you’re doing. Thus, having a higher chance of getting viewers to become subscribers.

4. Engage with your viewers.

If someone takes the time to comment, take the time to respond.

It can turn that person commenting into a subscriber. It also shows other viewers that you respond as well which will make others more willing to engage as well.

So the process can repeat itself with more viewers.

5. Work with other YouTubers.

Collaborating with others will get you seen by their audience and vise versa. It may be a longer process to finish a video but it can be worth it.

Especially if your working with a channel with a larger following. If you don’t want to collaborate with anyone on videos, you can ask to feature each other in the “featured channels” section.

6.Connect with bloggers or start your own.

Similar to working with other YouTuber channels, you can ask bloggers to feature your content in their articles.

Their traffic can be a huge help for giving a boost to views and potential subscribers!

Of course you can start your own blog and do the same thing if blogging is something that interests you as well.

7. Customize your YouTube Channel.

Too many small channels have yet to customize their channel. If you don’t customize your channel layout, your homepage looks very bare.

People will leave your channel thinking you don’t have any content! Customize your layout.

Let viewers see your best videos, important playlists and anything else that lets them know what your channel is about.

Give them the impression there’s a lot of content on your channel with more to come.

8. Use Ads.

Promoting your videos isn’t always the best idea for everyone, but it is an option to get more subscribers. YouTube even gives the option to promote a video in creator studio.

You also don’t have to spend a lot of money. You can spend as little as $1 a day using Google ads.

I would suggest a small budget on several ads to see what’s the best choice you have for gaining subscribers.

In the end…

Starting a YouTube channel may not be easy, but it doesn’t have to be hard either. Take your time.

Don’t compare your pace to others. Be consistent and use some the choices above.

Not just one. Be able to make yourself uncomfortable. That’s when you can really grow.
